Lucy Orta

Orta is a British artist whose work mainly centres about relationships between human life and the objects and architecture around us. She uses working methods such as painting, drawing, sculpture and performance.






Ernst Haekel
Haekel was a German scientist and artist born in the 1800s, whom was most famous for discovering many new species and documenting this through observational illustrations.







Mark Dion

Dion is an American conceptual artist whose work looks at the ways ideologies and institutions, such as religion and government, have shaped social understanding of science and history. Aiming to challenge perceptions of our knowledge, Dion works primarily with sculpture and large-scale exhibition pieces to recreate scientific processes. He also uses print and illustration. 






Leonara Carrington
Carrington was an English surrealist painter and novelist, she was a part of the 1930’s surrealist movement. Living in Mexico City most of her life she was also a founding member of the Women’s rights movement in Mexico during the 1970s. Aligning with the surrealist idea of dreams and subconscious though, Carrington also combined her own influences of Celtic literature, Renaissance art, folk art and medieval alchemy. 





Jean-Paul Goude
Goude is a French photographer, graphic designer, illustrator and advertising film director.






Alexander Girard
Girard was a designer born in the early 1900s, his work adopts many disciplines including; furniture design, interior design, industrial design and textile design.

Tanadori Yokoo
Yokoo is a Japanese illustrator whose disciplines include, print making, graphic design and painting.  His work is heavily influenced by pop art, combining vivid flat colour with text, while combining this with his own influences of Japanese culture and elements of westernisation in Eastern Asia.






Seymour Chwarst

Chwarst is an American designer, who works within; illustration, type design and graphic design. He uses comedy in his work by creating simple designs with layers of meaning. He is flexible with the media he works with, using; woodcutting, monoprint, collage, montage and a range of drawing techniques. 





Louise Bourgeoise
Bourgeoise was a French American artist, her most famous work includes her sculpture and instillation work, however is also known for her painting and printmaking. She considered her work to be a therapeutic process, addressing themes from her childhood including; family and domesticity, sexuality, death and the subconscious.
